Ecumenism

The source and summit of our faith is the Eucharist. This is primarily because Jesus gave us his Body and Blood as a memorial and signal what unifies us the most. When we come together for Mass and receive the Eucharist at the end, it is an external sign that we are unified as the one Body of Christ and all present for that very purpose.

However, our fallen human nature will at times cause a contradiction between the Eucharist we receive at Mass and our actions during our daily busy lives. Unity is not something recommended but rather a command from Christ. He knows that when a house is divided against itself, it will not stand. How do we contribute to unity? Or do we contribute more to division? This especially is important for us being from the Church of the East.

You will notice in the ecumenical circles how important it is for the Assyrian Church of the East to desire unity with the other branches of the Church of the East and vice versa. Desiring ecclesiastical unity among sister Churches is a duty for all the faithful as it is our contribution to the one Body of Christ.
